Nice to meet you!
Hi, I'm Sarah Cheung! I recently graduated with an M.S. in Human Factors in Information Design at Bentley University. Previously, I graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Computer Science.
In the UX field, my interests are accessibility, inclusivity, and sustainability. When designing and researching, I aim to remove exclusion and leave no voice unheard. By pouring these passions into product development, I hope to create meaningful and innovative experiences that positively impact people's lives.
Outside of school and work, I enjoy baking, painting, and photography. I like to experiment with recipes, adjusting ingredients to create sweets with Asian-inspired flavor profiles (e.g., black sesame mochi cake with a matcha glaze). I also love challenging escape rooms with my friends and spoiling my little kitties, Lumi and Bella.
Why the career change?
The turning point in my career was when I took a game prototyping course at USC, and I decided to switch from software engineering to the UX field. While conducting playtests with the VR game that I developed, I realized the importance of user experience in determining a product's success. I discovered a passion in learning the why behind people's thoughts and actions. Without finding the answer to this question, people could have terrible experiences with a product, or they might even be completely unable to use the product. Understanding is the key to designing great experiences, and user research provides that key.
